This prototype is designed to run on the clients desktop using Flash and Adobe's newly announced Apollo Platform. The features provided by Apollo make it possible to design desktop applications by combining ActionScript, Flex, HTML and CSS. The prototype allows the user to bid live against other users, customize their interface and create auctions while offline then submitting them to eBay when connected.
The goal behind the design was to create a simple customer experience while giving the user the ability to create their own unique way of interacting with the application. This was achieved by displaying a minimal amount of information for the user to complete their task. In order to do this we had to utilize a system of tabs to show and hide information allowing the user to display as much or as little information as they need. Thus, a power user might interact with the application in a different way than a novice user.
I worked with Effective UI based out of Denver to develop this prototype for eBay. The prototype is built using the Adobe Engagement Platform, which will enable the development and delivery of compelling digital experiences through a variety of media and help drive the next generation of rich Internet applications.
